Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hope for 100 an adoption agency?

Hope for 100 is not an adoption agency. We exist to equip local churches to connect with local adoption agencies, foster agencies, and orphan care providers so that the church can engage in the Biblical mandate to care for orphans.

Do I need to be a pastor or ministry leader to start a Hope for 100 in my church?

You do not need to be a pastor or ministry leader to start a Hope for 100 campaign, although you will want to get your pastor's support and involvement. We can help you approach your pastor or church leadership with the vision of Hope for 100.

How do I get more information on starting a campaign in my church?

You can contact us using this form and we will gladly begin the process of how best to fit this campaign to your local church.

Can small churches host a Hope for 100 campaign?

Yes, churches of any size can host a campaign. The goal of "100" can include 100 children adopted, 100 families fostering, 100 folks going overseas to serve orphans, etc. The number can be increased or decreased to suit a church's particular calling from God: Hope for 50, Hope for 500, etc.

Another option for smaller churches (or any size church) is to get together with other churches in your community to put on a campaign together. We are praying specifically for this very thing as it would be a powerful testimony to the community.

How long is the adoption process?

The length of the adoption process depends on many factors, including whether you are adopting domestically in the United States or internationally. Either way, you will be dealing with state and federal governments, and also the foreign government if you adopt internationally. Some of the timing will depend upon how quickly you get your application materials submitted and your dossier documents completed. Processing overseas will depend upon the country you choose. The official wait for a referral of a child begins once all of your legal paperwork (dossier) is registered in the foreign country. Your agency can provide you with more details regarding specific countries and programs.

Generally, the entire process of adoption of an international child with an agency will take about 8-12 months for Ethiopia, about 12 or more months for Russia and Guatemala and 24- 28 months for China. Depending on varying circumstances, this time frame could be shorter or longer.

How much will an adoption cost?

Adoptions will vary in total price between $10,000.00 - $35,000.00+, depending on varying factors such as: age and number of children, the country and region the child is adopted from, airfares and accommodations, etc. Ask your agency up front for a detailed breakdown of the fees and costs. Do not hesitate to ask questions where finances are concerned.

Currently, the IRS offers up to a $12,150 per child tax credit that adoptive families can take for the year their adoption is finalized. The total credit that can be taken depends on the adoptive family's income, and any unused portion of the credit can be carried forward for up to five years.
