Hope For 100 Reaches Goal! Now what?

GOD IS GOOD! In January of 2009, Pastor David Dykes introduced the challenge of Hope for 100 to Green Acres Baptist Church. The challenge was for 100 GABC families to commit to care for an orphan through adoption or foster care. And we are thrilled to report as of August 2010 that Hope for 100 has exceeded our goal. Not only has this challenge affected our church and community, but several other churches around the country have begun their own Hope for 100 program as well.

Many are asking now that we’ve exceeded the goal of 100 children, what’s next? Well, we are working on the answer to that right now. Pastor David Dykes will unveil Hope For 100 Version 2.0 on November 7th, which is National Orphan Sunday. That morning Pastor Dykes will be preaching, and we’ll have special musical guests: The Children of the World Choir. You won’t want to miss them! They’ve worked with Steven Curtis Chapman and Janna Long of Avalon to come up with some great music. That night, we’ll have the children give a mini-concert and then we’ll have Stephanie Fast speak. Stephanie was born to a Korean mother and a father of another nationality. After the war ended in Korea in the early 50’s, Stephanie’s mother put her on a train and sent her away. Stephanie is not sure how old she was, but she was likely four or five years old. The next several years she was homeless. She tells her riveting story and the story of how God intervened in her life to save her. Whatever you do, save the date and don’t miss November 7th and the unveiling of the next chapter in of Hope For 100.
