Case Study: Green Acres Baptist Church
Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas launched the first Hope for 100 campaign in January 2009 with their Senior Pastor, Dr. David Dykes preaching a message challenging the church to care for 100 children through adoption and foster care.
Along with messages from the pulpit, pre-and post-adoption support, foster care, financial and administrative assistance, ongoing orphan care, prayer and awareness teams were established to assist prospective parents for orphaned children.
On Jan. 3, 2009, Green Acres sponsored a day-long "If You Were Mine" adoption conference in partnership with Hope for Orphans.
Since the launch of Hope For 100 in January, many are asking how things are coming along. The church could not have been more encouraged with those attending the adoption/foster care conference on January 31. The goal of 200 people attending was easily surpassed, 300 came to learn more about adoption and foster care. Since that time, Hope For 100 leadership team members have been busy giving personal phone calls to every conference attendee. In May, a visual display will be unveiled at church showing how many people have expressed interest in adoption/foster care, how many are "in process" and how many have "completed" their adoption. Additionally, a clip from a video interview with Mrs. Cindy McCain will be shown in all church services, where she talks about her and Senator McCain's adoption as well as their desire to see the efforts of Hope For 100 multiplied.
